Hey folks!
I have an RC-20 BOSS loop station, and I'm using a microphone input.
I don't have much experience with this kind of stuff, so this might just be a technical thing, but I wonder what I can do to avoid this electric pulse/clicking sound that can be heard on my loops. Is it coming from the beat-counter thing (of which the volume is always indeed turned down), or is it an electrical thing (like grounding), or is it from the microphone.
any advice is appreciated...
(and anyone in the SF and East Bay area that does loop-based stuff is encouraged to invite me to look over their shoulder or give me a lesson, as I'm quite inexperienced with the technical side of things).

Re: electric clicking on BOSS RC-20
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 3:31 PMare you sure the metronome is turned down completely when you record your loop? i've noticed that if it is even slightly on, you will hear the clicks. other than that, i can't imagine what could be causing it.
a friend of mine who uses loop stations much more than i do, informed me that the line input works better than the mic input for mic recording.
you might try that and see if you still hear the clickity clack.... -

Re: electric clicking on BOSS RC-20
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 6:54 PMoh i've definitely ensured the metronome was all the way down.
but the time i use it i will certainly try the line input!!! that's something i haven't tried...
cheers! -

Re: electric clicking on BOSS RC-20
Mon, December 31, 2007 - 6:24 PMso yes, you were right, the mic input causes it. i don't get it when i go through the instrument input, but then the volume is MUCH lower. i'm sure a volume pedal would solve it. I also bet it's the particular microphone... but does anyone know why (electronically) the pulsing happens?

Re: electric clicking on BOSS RC-20
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 4:36 PMi've got the same problem with the rc-20 - pretty annoying. for a while, it was only on the mic input, now it seems to be happening with the line input as well. makes the thing worthless unless i can fix it. someone mentioned possibly cleaning the contacts (taking off the dial, and swabbing the area with deoxyid contact cleaner, or other such product (maybe even rubbing alcohol, which is a lot cheaper and available?)
