Yes, the JamMan is coming back as a pedal from Digitech. It features a slot for a Compact Flash card. It includes one with storage for over 24 minutes of record time and 99 loops. If you get a 2-gig one, you can have up to 6.5 hours of record time. It has USB connectivity, but doesn't seem to have MIDI, a curious choice in my opinion, but perhaps they have a way of hooking up to MIDI thorugh a USB to MIDI adapter. Lots of inputs: 1/3 inch, 1/8 inch for CD input (it sums stereo into mono), and an XLR microphone input. Includes a power supply. 44.1 kHz CD-quality audio. A six-year warranty.

Doesn't have all the slice and dice features of a new EDP, but street price is a few cents under $300.00.

Yeh, I bought one, too. It has some serious shortcomings for a $300 stompbox. But, hey, I got one, so I use it as much as I like. Six-year warranty???? News to me. I had to purchase a replacement power adapter. I think I've had mine about 2 years.

I just picked up a JamMan, after saving my pennies for a while. I am really not interested in what it can't do or doesn't have as a feature. I will use what's there and make it work for me.

A student of mine was the recipient of one of these pedals in a program
that we've started at the live looping festivals to award used gear to
young musicians or musicians who have limited financial resources.

I have to say that one thing that really bugs me about it, is that you have to have a certain length of loop before it works.

It won't let you make really micro loops, which I use a lot and then resample
(I do this with either two line 6 DL4s or with a DL4 and the LP-1 (looperlative).

I don't know of any stomp box live looper that won't let you make short loops besided this unit.

But, as Michael said, you can use any piece of gears' limitations and find great music in it.

Honestly, though, I woudn't recommend it to someone as a first looper.

I think the DL4 is a much more versatile instrument (with all of it's backwards/forwards/1/2 time /double time and the digital delays that you can add to any layer .....not to mention the expression pedal which can really help you with fade outs, etc.

Yes, I believe the shortest recordable loop is 4 seconds, but you can always load/store a single phrase with silence on the end via USB and just trigger it. This is one other reason I find it really lame that the Jamman has to go offline to receive any USB data.. that and not integrating the step up or down function that requires the separate (over-sized) footswitch. The thing has such a huge footprint to avoid tripping over.
